I created an OpenID account yesterday with MyOpenID and setup my personal domain name to delegate all the hard work to MyOpenID. All I had to do was signup for an account with MyOpenID and stick two javascript tags in the
section of my site. So, for example, DHH can login to any OpenID enabled website by just providing his domain name, www.loudthinking.com. I know this because you can find the following when you view the source:
Another cool feature of MyOpenID is that you can create personas. This allows you to give information out to sites you sign up with during the signup process, such as your email address or date of birth. It’s really easy to set up and is way easier than filling out form fields on all fifty web2.0 sites you sign up with every day. So the process of signing up on a site like jyte would look like this:
Jyte signup page

MyOpenID login page

Persona selection page

After setting this all up, I’ve become extremely annoyed when I encounter a site that doesn’t support it. There is no force more powerful in this world than laziness, so I’m sure this is a sign that OpenID will be ubiquitous in the near future.
